Jorge Perez

Perez, Jorge Devoted father, passed away on November 11th, 2010 after his long battle with cancer, he was 79. Born on Jan 9th, 1931 in Esmeralda (Camaguey), Cuba to Lebanese immigrants Juan Azor and Rosa Aucar Budit. As a young man in Cuba, he and his brother Rolando ventured into the jewelry business where they opened J & R Jewelers and quickly established himself as a master watchmaker. In the 1950's, he took his talents to New York City, opened two jewelry stores and married. He relocated to Miami in the late 70's and set- up shop in the famed Seybold Building, where he worked until his retirement. Preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters, including a twin sister, he is survived by his children George Perez and Rose Prieto, his grandchildren A.J. Prieto, Jacob Perez, Oliver Perez & Olivia Rose Prieto, his daughter-in-law Brooke Soffer- Perez & his son-in-law Alex Prieto. He was a dedicated father, grandfather and friend; a true Latin gentleman with a perennial smile that will be deeply missed by everyone he touched. He will forever live in our hearts.
