Josephine Fuchs Obituary

Josephine (Jo) Fuchs
February 10, 1930 - September 20, 2022
Fort Myers, Florida - Jo Fuchs away peacefully on Tuesday September 20th, she was 92 years old. She is survived by 4 children, Robin, Doug, Paul and Tabatha, 8 grandchildren, Morgan, Mark, Merrick, Carson, Shannyn, Tara, Frankie and Aidan, and one great granddaughter, Charlotte, who loved her and will miss her tremendously.
Jo will be remembered by all who knew her as a beautiful, exceptionally bright and energetic individual who embraced life to the fullest. She was a terrific cook, and loved to prepare wonderful, multi-course meals for family and friends. Her favorite was Thanksgiving, when she invited a large group of friends and the entire family to share a huge dinner with turkey, at least 5 vegetables, sweet and white potatoes, salads, relishes, deviled eggs and 3 or more desserts. We rarely ate before 10:00pm. She and Mark, her husband of 34 years, enjoyed having large parties, sometimes with costumes like togas (before it was immortalized in film, but similar, with better food).
She was a very caring, loving and soft-hearted person who tried to help anyone in need. Jo loved animals, and was known for her success in rehabbing wild birds, especially owls, after hurricanes. She loved very large dogs. Her first, a Mastiff named Lady, was a wonderful dog, but Jo could never teach her to retrieve a ball. A Great Dane - Mastiff mix named JD, for Jewish Dog, weighed in at 180 lbs. Good thing he was gentle, sweet and well trained, because he was a lot bigger than she. He routinely cleared tables with the swipe of his tail. Jo was happiest when the house was full of family, friends, animals and her food.
Although we mourn her passing, we are comforted by the knowledge that Jo lived a full life. In addition to raising a close and thriving family, she and Mark traveled extensively to Europe, Africa and the Middle East. They worked together to plan full itineraries that involved walking the cities and visiting castles, galleries, historical sites, museums, and eating the local cuisine as frequently as possible. Despite the emphasis on food, Jo remained tiny and trim, something she was extremely proud of.
It is hard to imagine that she is gone. A graveside service will be held for Jo on Sunday September 25, 2022 at Mount Nebo Cemetery in Miami, FL at 1:00 pm.

I loved to hear her laugh and wouldn't help but to join in. Jo and Hattie would tell jokes with no punchlines and laugh till their eyes teared up.
Loved her family and gave them her full attention, even with her hands full of other things she had to do. She took my son Bernard to get his Driving Permit so that he Bernard could take Paul David and his friends to pick Strawberries.
Jo cared for people with all her heart.

Josephine was a wonderful person. She insisted my son Bernard get his driver license & hang out with Paul David. During a visit with and Hattie ( her daily housekeeper who also passed) my 3 yrs old son jumped in the pool and she made sure, he got lessons. So many memories with the Fuchs family.

It's been, but I'm Pat Robinson your old babysitter when parents went of town.
Don't know if you are but Hattie also passed a couple of years ago.
