Michael Moses Obituary
June 2, 1945 - November 26, 2024
Tucson, Arizona - Dr. Michael Alan Moses, a distinguished radiologist and beloved family man, passed away on November 26, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona. Born on June 2, 1945, in Miami Beach, Florida, Dr. Moses dedicated his life to medicine and his family.
Dr. Moses graduated with honors from Miami Beach High School and pursued higher education at Emory University, where he earned his medical degree cum laude and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his internship in General Surgery at UCLA Harbor General Hospital and later served as a general medical officer and director of the emergency room at MacDill Air Force Base in the US Air Force Medical Corps.
Following his military service, Dr. Moses completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Duke University Medical Center. He was a pioneer in Computerized Body Imaging, establishing the first body imaging program in a private hospital in Florida at Cypress Community Hospital in 1978. He later joined Radiology Associates of South Miami, where he served as chief of CT and MRI and head of the Radiology Department until his retirement in 2005 due to failing eyesight.
Dr. Moses is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Martha; his daughters, Jennifer Moses Matheny and Hilary Moses (Stephen Ambagis); and grandsons, Addo and Drake. He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Moses Herzberg; brother, Robert Moses; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A man of great humor and kindness, Dr. Moses was a quiet philanthropist and an avid reader, traveler, and golfer. He cherished his family and friends, treating everyone with respect and generosity. His legacy of compassion and dedication will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 2nd at 11:30AM at Temple Beth Am 5950 North Kendall Drive, Pine Crest, FL. A light repast will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to the Anti-Defamation League, Emory University School of Medicine Stethoscope Fund, or your local Food Bank.
