Miami, Florida - Roger Lee Moebus was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 4, 1943, to Stanley Charles Moebus and Virginia Lee Martin. Roger grew up in Ft. Thomas Kentucky where he attended Highlands High School and then went on to attend Ohio University. He was continually active on campus and served as President of his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon where he developed lifelong friendships. After graduating from Ohio U cum laude, he attended medical school in Lexington, Kentucky at the University of Kentucky. He completed his internship and residency in General and Vascular Surgery under Robert Zeppa, MD at Jackson Memorial Hospital. After his surgical training Roger was deployed to NAS Jacksonville where he served two years active duty as the Fleet Surgeon for the Sixth Fleet on the USS Saratoga CV-60 and two years in the reserve. After his service, Roger joined the surgical practice of Jones, Swick, Dowlen, and Smiley in Coral Gables where he would care for patients over a 30-year period.

Roger was an avid boater, fisherman, wood worker, orchid grower, and contributor to his beloved Coral Reef Yacht Club. He was always in service to others and loved to be involved in any capacity where his talents could be put to good use for the betterment of his fellow man. He is remembered by countless patients, colleagues, friends, and family. Roger is survived by his sister, Martha McAtee, his sons, Christopher and Roger L. Moebus Jr. (Chip) and his stepchildren, Kevin and Amber Riviere as well as 6 loving grandchildren, Vance, Tanner, Cameron, Harper, Elizabeth, and Katelyn. Roger joins his beloved wife, JoAnn Camplejohn Moebus in heaven.

Dr. Moebus performed an emergency appendectomy on me in 1983, and I am forever grateful for his great skill and caring. I still marvel at the tiny scar from the operation and how he likely saved my life. Condolences to his family and friends, and eternal thanks from me and his many other patients.
