Ronald Green Obituary

Ron Green was born on Miami Beach on August 5, 1944. He was raised by Morris and Florence Green and grew up with his two brothers Marc and Don Sokolik. He attended Miami Beach High School, where he played on the varsity basketball team from 1960-1962, was on the All-City First Team and also lead his team to Conference and District championships. He attended Vanderbilt University on a full scholarship (1962-66). In 1964-65, his team won the SEC (Southeastern Conference) championship. He was also selected to the Jewish All-American Team. He enjoyed a stint playing for the Italian Professional League and also played professionally in Israel for Maccabi Tel Aviv. After basketball, Ron returned to Miami to work with Green Brothers Food Brokerage, as well as an account manager with Buitoni, and Haagen-Dazs. For the past ten years, Ron fought a courageous battle with the rare disease known as Multiple System Atrophy. He is survived by his two sons, Erin and Gil Green, and his four grandchildren, Veronica, Amelie, Kyle, and Aaliyah. Ron will be remembered as a gentle and thoughtful soul, whose good deeds touched the hearts of many. Ron was buried on July 24, 2012 by his family. Dear Carol,
For 30 years you kept your marriage vows of "for better or worse," Despite the gravity of Ron's diagnosis, you showed by your continued care of his medical and personal needs, your devotion and abiding love. You are a shining example of what is right in this world. Knowing the truth, be at peace my friend.

To my sweet cousin Carol,
Frank and I send you our deepest most heartfelt condolences. From the day of your wedding, to his diagnosis, to his death last week, you loved Ron with a passion rarely seen. You supported and nursed him though a long and agonizing illness. You were the love of Ron's life, his best friend in better times, and his strength when he had non. May God bless you and may he rest in peace. My prayer is that he was met by Buzzy, Helen and MIke, Sam and Rose and is FINALLY comforted by a loving family in heaven. Love from the Pacific Northwest,
Margi Ann and Frank
