Rosita Pollack Obituary

Rosita Schnaider Pollack passed away on August 15, 2025 in Miami, Florida. Rosita was born November 16, 1929, in Havana, Cuba. She was an indomitable woman. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Havana. She was also accomplished in piano and voice and entertained family and friends with her talents as well as her charm and beauty. Rosita married and moved to Miami, Florida. And then raised her two children, Carol Sokolow-Dias (Ronald Dias) and Leonard Sokolow (Sharon Levine Sokolow).

Rosita later on in her forties wanted to resume her pharmacy career. Through a 4-year program with the University of Florida, she studied and passed the U.S. national pharmacy board and continued her profession with great pride. Rosita often reflected that her "late in life" studies required her to learn new elements that were added to The Periodic Table of the Elements that were not yet discovered when she first got her Doctor of Pharmacy. Over the years, she was a valued team member to many hospitals and pharmacies exhibiting not only her professionalism but her warmth and charm she was able to deliver in 3 languages.

She met her soulmate, Richard Pollack in the mid-1980s. They married and were very happy sharing a beautiful life for a few short years. They enjoyed every moment together at home or often traveling, including cruising, hiking and camping. Too soon, Richard passed away. With grace, resilience, and courage Rosita carried on. Her unwavering Jewish faith and optimism shaped the way she continued to love and live.

Rosita is also predeceased by her late-in- life companion, Melvin Resnick, her parents Bertha and Aron Schnaider, her sister and brother-in-law; Regina and Dr. Maximo Plutzky. Rosita at 95 is preceded in death by her many first cousins and was one of the last of that generation in her family.

Rosita's source of pride, warmth and unconditional love was for her grandchildren; Josh Sokolow (Kate Duffey Sokolow) Andrew Sokolow (Tenille Briney Sokolow), Alexa Dias Karan (Len Karan), Ethan Dias and her great-grandchildren; Isla Karan and Aiden Karan.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the University of Florida College of Pharmacy to support research, education and activities related to drug safety: https://www.uff.ufl.edu/giving-opportunities/022699-drug-safety-fund/.
