Howell Henry Rowe

1929 - 2015

ROWE, Howell Henry, age 86 of Estill Springs, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at Bailey Manor in Winchester. Born in Lincoln County on Aug. 17, 1929, to the late Oscar Jackson and Essie Howell Rowe, he later served in the United States Air Force before working at AEDC for over 20 years. Howell loved working with cattle on the farm. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, O.J. Rowe and a sister, Lea Perry. Howell is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Smith Rowe of Estill Springs; sons, Alan Rowe of Estill Springs and Douglas (Kathy) Rowe of Cullowhee, N.C.; daughter, Donna (Derric) Rowe Brown of Waynesville, N.C.; grandchildren, Chris, Josh, Matthew, Zachary and Elizabeth; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Reva Beene of Savannah, Ga. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, from 5-8 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at 10 a.m. in the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joe Rutherford officiating. Interment will follow in the Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester. Serving as pallbearers will be, Chris Rowe, Josh Rowe, Matthew Rowe, Zachary Rowe, Dusty Matlock and Otis Eade.
