Parker Ake

AKE, Parker, age 84 of Lake Wales, Florida and Hillsboro, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, at Lake Wales Memorial Hospital in Lake Whales, Florida. Mr. Ake was born on July 6, 1933, in Estill Springs, Tennessee to the late Era Otis (Pete) Ake and Thelma Buena Hannah Ake. He was a 1951 class graduate of Franklin County High School and attended Tennessee Tech University. Mr. Ake was a veteran of the Army National Guard and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Estill Springs. He worked for AEDC Fire Department, Ake and Hannah Construction, Solid Waste Disposal and the Outdoor Resorts of America. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Yarbrough and second wife, Jean Brown Hoagland. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Coffee Wingfield; daughters, Patricia Ake Thompson, Cynthia Hoagland (Vernon) Sherrill and Phyllis Stokes (David) Shuckstes; grandchildren, Valarie Goodman Sumner, Thomas Parker Thompson, Edward (Bethany) North, Stephen Lyndsey North, Mike (Tracy) Mohr, Kevin Sherrill, Andrew (Suzette) Shuckstes and Jeannie Shuckstes; greatgrandchildren, Shelby Thompson, Garrett Martinez, Parker Thompson, Cole Thompson, Lyndsey Paschall, Anne Catherine North, Jayton Parker North, Makenzie Mohr, Brittany Sherrill, Karsyn Sherrill, Kaiden Sherrill, Patrick Sherrill, Keiton Sherrill, Spencer Shuckstes, Ananda Shuckstes and Kirta Shuckstes. Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Randall Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Tullahoma.
