Thomas Harrison Ward

WARD, Thomas Harrison, age 87 of the Hurdlow Community in Moore County, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Lynchburg Nursing Home. He was born on Oct. 18, 1929, in Fayetteville to the late Walter W. and Angie Hutchinson Ward. Thomas worked for over 40 years at the Farmer's CO-OP in La Vergne, Tennessee. He was the past president of Moore County Farm Bureau. Thomas held dual membership in the Masonic Lodge as a member of Sam Davis Lodge 661 and Lynchburg Masonic Lodge 509. He was a longtime member of the Champ Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Champ, Tennessee. In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his brother, Don Ward. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Smith Ward of the Hurdlow Community; daughters, Sandra Ward-Yancy (Jay) of Brentwood, and Cindy Ward-Marin (Rey) of Tullahoma; sisters, Nancy Hunter of Franklin, Iva Jinnette of Loudon and Alice Clardy of Loudon; grandchildren, Tanner Ward Yancy, Macy Jean Marin and Race Thomas Marin; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 17, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Richard Logan officiating. Interment will be in the Lynchburg Cemetery with Tanner Yancy, Race Marin, Steve Jinnette, Craig Syler, Larry Hatfield and Ken Ward serving as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Allen Pogue, Larry Moorehead, Terry Tucker, William Lawson, Clay Syler, Claude Eddie, Vernon Glover and Buford Jennings. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the 4-H Club of Moore County, P.O. Box 188, Lynchburg, TN 37352.
