Susie Blevins Obituary
ABINGDON, Va.
Susie Lee Thayer Blevins, age 96, passed on Friday, April 9, 2021. Susie was a graduate of Bethel High School and a lifelong member of Washington Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Sue Thayer; husband, Harold Blevins; son, Gerald Blevins; brothers, James Thayer Jr. and Hunter Thayer; and sisters, Ruby Price, Helen Thayer, Anna Belle Call, and Peggy Arnold.
Susie is survived by her children, Randall T. (Claudia) Blevins of Abingdon, Va., Judy (Bobby) Thomas of Abingdon, Va., Glenna (the Rev. Mark) McFadden of Galax, Va., and Susan (Jay) Barringer of Eldersburg, Md.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Blevins of Cornelius, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held from 1 until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Mark McFadden and the Rev. Larry Lusk officiating. Interment will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park with Rick Call, Colt Thomas, Spencer Bramlette, Chad Thomas, Justin Thomas, Brian Blevins, and Erik Blevins serving as pallbearers. COVID-19 guidelines are to be observed. Those wishing to view the service online may do so by visiting www.farrisfuneralservice.com/livestream 15 minutes prior to the service.
The family would like to extend special appreciation to Susie's caregivers in the home: Mary Hicks, Janice Campbell, Pam Leonard, and Caris Hospice, especially Lynsey and Robin. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Washington Chapel United Methodist Church, 25221 Walden Road, Abingdon, VA 24210, in Mrs. Blevins name.
