Abraham Aleman Obituary

Abraham Isaac Aleman, 70, went to be with the Lord Jesus on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at WNJ Medical Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.
Abraham was born on Oct. 5, 1939 in Sherman to Eulogio and Helen Aleman. He was a special man and favored by many. He relished his time with his family, especially his grandchildren. You could often find him playing games or taking his loved ones to the movies. As an avid fan of sports, you would often find him watching relatives play at the Sherman or Denison stadium. He enjoyed traveling the U.S. and abroad.
He was educated in the public schools, graduating from Sherman High School, where he played baseball and football. He received his bachelor of science degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. Then moved on to receive his master's and beyond at University of North Texas in Denton. He was a member of New Life Church/Covenant Church. He was an Evangelical Christian.
For five years he managed Zales Jewelry Store in Sherman. He was an educator and coach for many years in the surrounding areas: Whitesboro, Denison, Collinsville, and Tioga. He worked at Grayson County College in the human resource department. Later he went on to manage Aleman's Mexican Restaurant in Denison. Before retiring, he owned and operated A&I Construction Inc.
Abraham was preceded in death by his father, Eulogio "Pete" Aleman and a brother, David Aleman. He is survived by a son, Corey Aleman; daughters, Elena Aleman McCollum and husband Mickey, and Christy Aleman Hickman and husband Jared, all of Sherman; brothers, Abel Aleman and wife Judy, and Israel Aleman Sr. and wife Wendy; two sisters, Helen Kerr and Rebecca Roberson and husband Don; nine grandchildren, Jacob and Jaclyn McCollum, and Noel, Caleb, Ezekiel, Gabriel, Levi, Isabela, and Judah Hickman all of Sherman; several nieces and nephews; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
Nephews Kenneth Kerr, Mark Kerr, Robert Kerr, Izzy Aleman Jr., Edward Roberson, and Derick Aleman will serve as pallbearers, with honorary pallbearers: Lane Aleman, Tony Aleman and Steve Roberson.
The family will be at the Dannel Funeral Home from 6 -8 p.m. on Tuesday for visitation. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at Sherman Bible Church with Pastor Dennis Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.

I have had the honor of knowing Abe for over 35 years. As a fellow church member, co-worker, soccer Dad, and friend. His passing will cause many of us to pause, but His example rings of strength. Please accept my late post and sympathy concerning Abe. God's blessings for you and your families.

I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge -- myth is more potent than history -- dreams are more powerful than facts -- hope always triumphs over experience -- laughter is the cure for grief -- love is stronger than death.

To the family of Abraham.

We deeply apologize for the typo in the good name of Aleman.

The fingers don't type as good as they used too.

You are all in our hearts and prayers.

God Bless you all.

Aleman Cousins, Aunt Helen.
I'm deeply hurt that my cousin has left us so soon. Abraham was as all my cousins are someone I'll always remember and cherish with memories of conversations and times past. Holidays as a kid the positive thinking he instilled in negative times. Losing a brother can be unbearable and this is your second, lean on each other. Be there for Aunt Helen, your mom. Aunt Helen I feel deeply for you with the loss of two sons in your lifetime, use the comfort of your surviving children to remember the goodtimes with all the children... I love you all dearly and am grievingly sorry I was unable to attend Abrahams services....
