David Tonkinson Obituary
Mr. Tonkinson was born Nov. 25, 1950 in Denison, the son of Donald and Dorothy (Smith) Tonkinson. David married Sandra Bowen on April 19, 1980 in Sadler. David served proudly in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a police officer in Arizona, Johns-Manville for several years and with Folgers for more than 20 years. David was an avid movie goer, enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels, traveling and most of all spending time with his family. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother
Mr. Tonkinson is survived by his wife, Sandra Tonkinson of Denison; children, Dawn Lechner and husband, Christopher of Tucson, Ariz., Keith Tonkinson and wife, Michelle of Katy, Brian Tonkinson and wife Isabel of Sherman, Ashley Tonkinson of Gunnison, Colo.; grandchildren, Blake Lechner, Alex Lechner, Emily Tonkinson and one on the way; mother, Dorothy Tonkinson; brother, Mike Hughes and wife LaNell of Pottsboro; in-laws, Don and Virginia Bowen, Rodger Bowen and Gayle Riddle; uncle, Cecil Smith and wife Billie; nephews and nieces, Kaci, Cody, Kayla, Sheri and Sean; cousins, Susan Ratliff and Larry Smith; his loving lap dog Ally; and numerous other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Donald Tonkinson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010 at Parkside Baptist Church with Dr. Chet Haney officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by Sheppard Air Force Base. Family visitation will be from 6 -8 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Fisher Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Chris Lechner, Blake Lechner, Alex, Lechner, Alan Brown, Shane Boddie, Sean Lewers and Kirk Reese. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Gray and Larry Smith.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, located at 604 W. Main in Denison.

I never saw Dave without a smile on his face. He was always there to help others, he treated people with respect and mostly with care. He will be remembered as a loving & caring individual. I'll see him again on the 19th hole.........R Petty
