1995 - 2022

Emma Jennings Emma Alyse Jennings passed away unexpectedly on October 2, 2022. No written words can adequately convey how wonderful our Emma was, nor how much she was loved. Emma was born on August 31, 1995, in Dallas, Texas to Jed and Sue Jennings. Emma grew up in Sherman, Texas and graduated in 2014 from Sherman High School. She was a member of the high school swim team and had enjoyed swimming with the Denison Dolphin swim team beginning at the age of eight. During her childhood she loved participating in productions at the Finley Cultural Center and with Theatrics. Emma was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was confirmed when she was in the sixth grade. Emma moved to Kirkland, Washington where she became a certified ABA technician, where she loved and affected the lives of the children she served. Emma loved her family and friends, with all her heart. Emma had a wonderful sense of humor that everyone loved. She was sweet and kind. She had a free and giving heart and spirit. She viewed everyone as equal, and equality and inclusivity were important to her. Emma was happy and full of life; she loved swimming in the ocean, hiking in the woods, animals, thrifting, horror movies, design, fashion, and cooking. Emma loved helping others. She was open-minded, creative, and cared about the environment. Emma's life was cut short, and the hole left in our lives is enormous. Knowing that Emma is finally at peace and knowing that her struggle is over helps with our pain. She touched all of our lives in such a wonderful way. We are fortunate that we had her, even though our time with her was brief, Emma's spirit lives on in us. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Naomi and Albert Jeffries, and her paternal grandmother, Laura Jennings. She is survived by her parents, Sue Jennings, and her partner, David Dees, Jed Jennings, and his partner, Rob Yost, two aunts, Lenore Flowers and Catherine Brown, her grandfather, Don Jennings, and numerous cousins and great aunts and uncles. A celebration of life service will be held on 11:00 Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Friendship Methodist Church in Sherman, Texas.
