John Towles Obituary

John Charles Towles, 80, passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Texas Health Presbyterian-WNJ Medical Center, into the hands of God, surrounded by his family.

John was born Dec. 12, 1931 at Wichita Falls Clinic Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas the son, and only child, of Charles Alexander and Ruth Dickey Towles. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1949. He attended the University of Texas, North Texas State University, and Austin College. He graduated with a major in business and a minor in economics in 1957. He graduated from Midwestern University in Wichita Falls in 1959 with his M.B.A. Degree.

John worked for Texas Instruments Sherman as purchasing manager, materials manager and inventory control supervisor in the S/C Division. He retired in 1991 and 25 years of service.

John proudly served in the United States Air Force from January 1951 to January 1955, serving as a Technical Staff Sergeant. John's career was spent mostly at Perrin Air Base, Texas at the headquarters Squad 3555th CCRTRAWG (INTCP)(ATRC).

John is survived by his wife of 37 years, June Pointer Towles of Denison; two sons, Barry Towles and wife Lisa of Sherman and Joe Pell and wife Robyn of Melissa, Texas. He is also survived by six grandsons, Scott and Ryan Towles, Daniel Pickels, J. T., Lane and Levi Pell; granddaughter, Leslie Leemauk and husband Alex; and two great grandsons, Aidan and Austin Leemauk. John was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Towles and Ruth Dickey Carruth and husband Don, and one daughter, Patsy Dye.

Graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Military Honors will be provided by the Sheppard Air Force Military Honor Guard. Mr. Towles will lie in state for viewing at Waldo Funeral Home from 1 -6 p.m. on Tuesday and 8 a.m. -noon on Wednesday.
