The news of Wayne Armstrong passing is a tremendous shock to me and my family. My condolences to Chase and the Armstrong Family.
I met Wayne in during the construction of the City of Sherman Water treatment plant. We hired Wayne to assist several Journeymen with the construction of the plant. I remember advising him to work hard, be honest and dependable and he could possibly get a permanent position with, at the time, Ionics Incorporated. Wayne and I really hit it off big, he took me to all his favorite local BBQ restaurants, clubs, and out to Lake Texoma. He was so excited about the opportunity to work with a large water treatment firm that he talked about it every day. Wayne worked very hard and tried to learn everything he could from the two main Journeymen. They were older gentlemen who didn’t like spending their time training greenhorns and they let everyone know it. I told Wayne to try to think two steps ahead of them and he would do fine. The two Journeymen ending up liking Wayne because of his hard work ethic and they took him under their wings. Little did I know that the advice I gave Wayne would really come true for him. Wayne was hired by Ionics and began traveling as a Field Service Engineer. We worked on many jobs together building our careers and friendship.
One particular day I remember was in my home town in Phoenix, AZ. We were working on a project together and I invited Wayne over to my home for dinner. On that night Wayne received a phone call and was informed that Karen was pregnant with his son Chase. At first he was scared and then became so excited. We talked and laughed about the great news for the rest of the night. Chase, your father wasn’t physically there for you all the time, like all of us in this type of business, but I can tell you he loves you more than anything in the world.
I spent many more Sundays than I can remember hearing Wayne rubbing it in when the Cowboys would win and the Cardinals would lose. I will miss Wayne very much, but I know that we will meet again. Until then I am truly going to miss hearing that famous Sunday Wayne-O yell “COME OOOOOOOOONNNNN COWBOYS!!!

I wish to offer my deepest sorrows on Wayne's passing. He was hired 2 weeks after I was with Ionics (GE) and we worked together off and on for several years and always had a good time working together. He will be greatly missed. See ya, Wayne
