Dr. Zafar Iqbal Malik

1942 - 2011

Dr. Zafar Iqbal Malik died peacefully at home on Sept. 3, 2011 surrounded by his family.

Dr. Malik was born on October 8, 1942 in Pakistan. He graduated from Punjab University Medical College in Pakistan in 1966. Further training included his Internal Medicine residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in New York and Pulmonary Fellowship at Germantown Hospital Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pa. He practiced Internal Medicine and as a Pulmonary Specialist in the Sherman/Denison area for more than 30 years until he retired in 2008. He was an extremely dedicated and highly regarded staff physician at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center and at Texoma Medical Center. He also served as a consulting physician at Gainesville Memorial Hospital. Additionally, he served as the medical director of four local nursing home facilities. He had offices in Sherman and Savoy, Texas. During his many years as a physician, he served his patients and their families with professionalism and compassion.

Dr. Malik loved music and was always up for a little gardening.

He was dedicated to his family, his community and his patients. He supported many charitable causes.

He was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. Dr. and Mrs. Anjum Malik recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary this year.

He will be sorely missed.
