Allen Wolk Obituary

Allen Wolk passed away on October 8, 2024 in Everett, Washington, at the age of 65. Allen was a devoted husband, father, and "Opa", and will be greatly missed by his family, friends.

Born on June 27, 1959, Allen dedicated much of his life to serving his community and nurturing his family. His commitment to public safety was evident through his extensive career in fire services, as a Firefighter, Fire Marshall, and Battalion Chief for the City of Camas.

Beyond his professional life, Allen was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Julie Wolk; children, Ryan Wolk and Rachel Gilbreath; daughter-in-law, Malorie Wolk; son-in-law, Andrew Gilbreath; grandchildren, Lukas, Felix, Vivienne, Harry, and Louisa; parents, Gerald and Dolores Wolk; and siblings, Jerry Wolk, Kami Sowards, and Rollie Wolk.

Allen loved spending time with his friends, hiking and fishing. He could often be found fishing and crabbing on the Columbia River and Puget Sound, and enjoyed an annual trip to Alaska with friends. He and Julie spent time camping, hiking, kayaking, and exploring Europe, the Cascades, and various national parks across the U.S. He had a deep love for his family, reflected in the handcrafted garden beds and garden shed he built for Julie, and his knack for fixing anything that needed to be repaired in the homes of his children. In recent years, he was happiest spending time with his five grandchildren who he adored.

A service celebrating Allen's life will be held at the Camas Community Center in Camas, Washington, on Friday, November 15 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Allen's memory to the American Heart Association, reflecting his lifelong commitment to the well-being of others.

I remember him as my own grandfather whom I loved all the way from when I knew him when I was born in 2014 to the 10 years later in 2024 when he died.

My sister and brothers and I grew up with Laurie next door. He was my best buddy for quite a few years. We romped all over that mountain, and knew every inch of that beautiful river we were lucky enought to have. Ran with the beautiful sister and brothers too. These were great memories. I am so sorry for your loss kids. Am thinking of you all. Big hugs. LeeAnn Lester. (Haralson)

Shocked when I saw the paper this morning. We worked together for many many years. I remember sitting on Yacolt mountain in his Plymouth Champ drinking beer and playing bacgammon while watching the volcano steam and spout. We ran many EMS and fire calls together and couldn“t believe how far we had come over the yeats (BC and Acting BC). I will be there in November to honor those memories and many more.
