Bernice Coffey Obituary

Bernice "Sally" Coffey, 90, of Camano Island passed away on June 7, 2025. Born Bernice Marquie Dahlquist on August 17, 1934, in Everett, WA to Bernice and Oscar Dahlquist.

Sally worked at JC Penney when it opened at Alderwood Mall in 1979 for 20 years. Volunteerism was always Sally's passion. She volunteered at Camano Country Club and enjoyed meeting people and being of service. Sally was an avid quilter and was part of the Camano Island Quilters Guild. She would make quilts for American Hero Quilts (AHQ) which would be sent to injured service members at Madigan Hospital at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and other Warrior Transition Centers in the US and directly to bases in Afghanistan and Qatar.

Dearly loved and cherished by her daughter, Denise (Chris) Canonica and Frank (Wendy) Coffey Jr; granddaughters Chelsea (Keenan) Roehm, Megan (Brian Slack) Canonica, Madison Canonica and Killian Coffey; great-granddaughters Echo and Luna Roehm, sister Rosemary Combs and brothers Ralph and Norman Dahlquist. Sally was preceded in death just 4 months ago by husband and cruising partner of nearly 60 years, Frank J Coffey Sr and brothers Bernard and Gilbert Dahlquist and parents Oscar and Bernice Dahlquist.

A private celebration of life will be held in August in Spokane, WA. To honor Sally, please send donations to Camp Eyabsut (www.campeyabsut.org) to support burn-injured youth.
