Brandon Norton Obituary

Brandon Robert Norton

Brandon Robert Norton, age 21, was taken from us suddenly on Saturday, November 14, 2009.
Brandon is survived by his mother, Laurie O'Donnell; father, Stephen Norton; brother, Nick; step-father, Kelly O'Donnell; step-mother, Kathleen Norton; and step-siblings, Chelsea Kopta, Justin Kopta and Tara Martinez. Brandon also has grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins who adore him.
Brandon was born in Lynnwood, Washington on April 25, 1988. Brandon attended Meadowdale High School and graduated in 2006. He attended Edmonds Community College from 2006 thru 2008, and was nearing completion of his Associates Degree. Brandon had two main passions in life, Soccer and his Friends. Brandon played soccer from the time he was six years old until the weekend before his passing. This included his time as a youth player, high school player, college player and competitive adult player. Brandon played in five states, five different countries, and over 700 games. Soccer was Brandon's passion and he felt free when he played. He was an amazing player who brought joy to anyone who had the privilege to watch him play. Brandon was also very dedicated to his close circle of friends. Brandon would do anything for his friends, and always put their needs ahead of his own. Being close, sharing good times together and creating lasting memories with his friends meant everything to Brandon.
A celebration of Brandon's life will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at North Creek Presbyterian Church in Mill Creek, WA. A reception will be held following the service. (Directions will be available at the service.)
Brandon's spirit continues to live within all of us. We will all cherish his memory and never forget the joy he brought to our lives. We miss and love you so much. Rest in Peace our precious Brandon.

Steve & family,
I was so sorry to hear of your loss. Losing a child is never easy. May you find comfort in knowing he lived his life in complete joy through the sport of soccer.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help at this time.

I was extremely fortunate to be able to connect with Brandon again later on in my life after not seeing or speaking to him for over 7 years. I remember him at a young age as a pure forward and for his love and passion for the game of soccer and for the well being of people. In the little moments I had spent with Brandon after reuniting I was so impressed with his attitude and his maintenance of tranquility playing with some of the best players in Washington State. Just being able to play on the same pitch as Brandon was truly a blessing. Despite panic amongst teammates I noted his ability to succeed and maintain focus especially against difficult opponents during our season with Big Daddy. You have always been a baller and I know you will continue to tear it up on Jesus' fantasy team in Heaven. We will never forget you.

God Bless you Brandon..........

Brandon had a smile that could melt icebergs. When he grinned, it always seemed he must have two hands in the cookie jar and no one had noticed.

He could somehow sense whenever I baked and would show up at the door with a big smile and his first words would be, "Is that brownies I smell? Oh, is Alex home?".

We are so heartbroken to lose him so young with all the love and potential he had. Our family will cherish the memories we have forever. Our hearts go out to the family who raised such a wonderful young man.

Steve, Laurie, and Nick;

"I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious."

I thought this poem represented how i feel really well. Growing up and going to school with brandon was the best thing i could have asked for. He always knew how to make me laugh, smile, and just want to hug him. Thats who he was and always will be. He will always be in my heart and making me smile. I am very sorry and sad that we had to lose him so soon. Love you all.

Our thoughts and prayers go out the family during this difficult time. We are all going to miss Brando dearly.

We were so blessed to have the chance to watch him play soccer along with our boys. He was an amazing player and always had a smile on his face.

The funniest memory I have was during a soccer tournament when Moe got you and Nicky to dress up and walk around the fast food place where we were eating. Also listening to you and Moe sing the songs from the movie "Moulin Rouge" during practice... classic

RIP Brando...

My heart broke into pieces earlier this week when I learned of the sudden, unexpected death of your dear son, and I cannot imagine the depth of your sorrow.

Please accept my deepest sympathy on the unexpected loss. It is a very tragic event and I want you to know that I share your grief.

I know that it is difficult to understand tragedies like this, but we can call on our faith to help us deal with them. Although I didn't know Brandon, I do know his father and step-mom and I just want to let them know my prayers and thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

My prayers will be for you and your family to see this through and keep strong.

Another star shines brighter in the sky tonight, and yes, he will light up the darkness. Brando's smile, wit, charm, all of his unique (I mean that in a good way:) qualities will be truly missed by all who know him. My prayers go to Brando's family, a wonderful, loving, caring family. Brando and Nicky D must be kicking the soccer ball around up in heaven, but both of them are truly missed here on earth. Laurie, my dear friend and amazing mom, your family is in our prayers and thoughts every day.

Brandon, a shining little star that had a smile every single time I would see him.

He and I had something in common, the soccer field. Him the player and I the mother of one of the players. Brandon would sit on the sidelines with me and watch his brother Nick and my son play and cheer them on!

Brandon was funny and happy and was always a joy to be around.

We lost touch over the years but he will always hold a special place in my heart and my family's.

To the Norton family, I am so sorry for your loss.

Brandon was always one of my most loyal friends. Although I haven't seen him in a couple years, all through high school he was the sweetest, funniest and brightest friend anyone could ask for. I remember him being the only person who was honest with me on a number of occasions and I am forever grateful for that. He will be eternally missed. My prayers are with his family during this rough time. Isaiah 26:19 says, "Your dead shall live..." so I know that we will see Brandon again.

It still does not seem possible that we have lost another beautiful soul. Losing Brando has left a huge hole in our hearts, as if the hole wasn't big enough already. Now we must continue to live on and honor his memory, difficult as it may seem now. We will always remember that infectious smile and carefree attitude that he has had since the first time we met him on the soccer field. Nicky loved playing up front with Brando. I have never seen anybody score better headers than those two knuckleheads!!! I mean that lovingly, because anyone who knew them would agree.

It has been a privilege to know Brando's family, especially his amazing mother! I love you Laurie and will help you through this as best I can. No one can truly say that they know how you feel and what you are going through except for me. We have both lost our baby boys and I find a bit of comfort in the fact that they are together, kicking the ball around, wreaking all kinds of havoc!

Just know that the entire De Simone family is here for you and will be there after all is said and done, forever. We are bonded for life and for reasons unknown to us now, it is all part of God's greater plan for our families.

Our prayers, our love, and our sincere condolences go out to you, his family, and to all the fortunate people who knew Brando and were lucky enough to feel his arms around you when he hugged you and to feel his love when he smiled at you! We are all blessed to have known Brando and will never forget him, ever!!!

To all of Brandon's family , we were so sorry to hear of his passing. We lost our 19yr old nephew 1yr ago to the date due to a car accident and can empathize with your loss. We didn't really know Brandon on a personal level but got an opportunity to see him play soccer many times. He always played with such passion and heart. A real joy to watch. I know he will be missed immensely.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
