Chris Peterson Obituary

Christopher (Chris) Maurice Peterson passed away at home on Friday, December 28, 2018. Born March 22, 1952 in Olympia, Washington to Bill and Carmie Peterson, he was the oldest of three children. His siblings included younger brother, Randy, and sister, Lisa. Chris graduated from Edmonds High School in 1971 where he lettered in football, track, and wrestling winning the State Heavyweight Wrestling Championship his junior and senior years. He was inducted into the Edmonds-Woodway High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017. After graduating from Washington State University he began teaching and coaching at Finn Hill Junior High, Juanita High School and Kirkland Junior High. He retired in 2008 and went to work at Costco in Woodinville, WA. He recently retired to spend more time with family and friends. In addition to teaching, he loved coaching all sports including football, basket-ball, wrestling and track. In his free time you could find him with his buddies on the golf course. Chris leaves behind his loving wife, Nancy Stroud Peterson and beloved daughter, Whitney Peterson. He is survived by his sister, Lisa (Marty) Jacques and family; his sister-in-law, Linda Stroud, and many relatives, friends, and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother. Chris was loved by many and will be dearly missed. A celebration of his life will be held in his honor at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in his name.

Thinking of you dear Nancy and Whitney. I took Liam and Kaity to Red Robin last night.
I thought of the many occasions we all shared family dinners and enjoyed fun times. We love and remember Chris fondly. Love you all.

I first met Chris at a summer wrestling camp in the mid-60's. He was a dynamo. Full of energy. Through high school he was always positive and focused. The last time I saw him was at Costco a few years ago. Lovin' life and his retirement. Sorry your time came so soon.

You will be missed, Chris Peterson! I will always remember your wonderful laugh and bright smile. I loved talking with you when I'd come over to visit with Nancy. And I especially remember your kindness when I lost my little bunny and you and Nancy let me bury him on your property - it is still a vivid and warm memory. Good people like you with ginormous hearts are hard to come by; I will feel the loss of you for a long time. My love to Nancy and Whitney!

We will miss Chris and want to extend our deepest sympathy to our Cousins Nancy, Whitney, and Linda. He was a wonderful man who was passionate about his family, enjoyed his friends, and appreciated his full life. We will remember his warm smile, hugs, and engaging conversation at our family dinners. Chris was a husband, father, friend to all, teacher, coach, mentor, caretaker, animal lover, and the kindest human being ever.

Chris, what do I say? Im so saddened. You were a great teammate and good friend. Arguably the best player on our FB team and best wrestler. You were always very humble about your talents and made the rest of us better players through your encouragement and example. From the other comments Ive read, you passed that on to the kids you taught and coached. What a wonderful gift you shared with and gave to them.

Ill miss you buddy and well all see you on the other side some day.

Chris was my wrestling coach at Finn Hill Jr. and Juanita. He was an inspiration and an amazing tactical instructor. He took a bunch of kids who knew nothing about wrestling and turned us into a group of driven animals who wanted to win for each other, him and our school. We all had a ton of respect for him. Sending positive thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

A humble giant of smaller stature. He didn't pat himself on the back! I was witness to an amazing feat of his strength, which I will never forget. Those who knew him are fortunate to have walked in his presence.

Breaks my heart to read this. I recently realized Mr. Peterson worked at Woodinville Costco. I'm glad I was able to chat with him and thank him for the amazing experience I had in wood shop back in 7th grade. My thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to his family during this difficult time. He will definitely always be remembered. May he Rest In Peace.

Mr. Peterson was my whole Junior High at Finn Hill. Shop class was something I use everyday around my home building and fixing things. If it were not for him that skill would have been lost. He was also my wrestling coach on the lowest weight, I still had fun. Also he loved it when I would bring him triple decker sandwiches to class for him. I was really good at shop class but I am sure those sandwiches helped. He is truly a great man and his knowledge is passed on to me as I pass it on to my son.
