Although it has been many years since Dave and my family have crossed paths, he comes up in our discussions, often. These always result in a chuckle and a smile..
Even though his passing was in January, this news saddens our family.
My wife and I met Dave through a common friend, Paul Eiler (RIP). Paul brought him to our house to help us build an outside deck. We hit it off and had a great time drinking beer and pounding nails.
On another occasion as I remember, Paul took me to Dave´s highly wooded property in almost down town Everett. In the front of the yard was a very large wooden boat. Dave was very proud of this boat and talked at length about his plans for the boat. I thought the boat needed a lot of work and could be put in a museum. I do not know what ever happened to his project boat.
Dave always had a very friendly attitude. When we crossed paths at a store or on the street, there was always a genuine "come over and visit anytime" invite.
Dave was a unique crazy guy with the kookiest sense of humor. One time my wife and I came home from shopping. We parked in the front yard and as we were unloading our car we heard someone yelling our names. We looked around and around but could not find anyone. The calling continued. Finally, we looked up and saw Dave well over 100 feet, high above the houses, up, free climbing a tree in our back yard. When we asked him what was he doing, he replied, "Oh nothing, just climbing a tree".
RIP Dave. We will add you to our list of friends who have physically left us, but will continue to be in our happy thoughts.
