Delbert Fleming

1940 - 2022

Delbert E Fleming, 81, of Issaquah, Washington, passed away on January 19, 2022, of heart failure. Delbert was born to Larry and Norma Fleming on July 30, 1940 in Snohomish, Washington. He was a Monroe native and attended the Monroe School District, but found that he liked fishing with friend John Ward and visiting Larry Dennis at the local Gas Station more than he liked attending school. He decided to join the Navy at the age of 17 where he would spend the next 30 years - 20 years active and 10 in the Naval Reserve. He served on the USS Saratoga and numerous other ships during his active duty and retired from the Navy on November 1st, 1986 as a Chief Signalman. In that span he received 3 Good Conduct Awards, an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Viet Nam Service Medal. He also found the time to complete his High School Education while serving his country. Upon his Naval retirement, Delbert, a talented mechanic, spent several years working for Honda Auto Center in Bellevue, Washington. He also was an active member of the Eagles Association where he donated much of his time. On July 6th, 1984 He married the love of his life, Bettylee in Reno, Nevada and they remained married for 38 years. Delbert is survived by his wife Bettylee, Sisters Darlene (George Zanas), Carol (Don Teter), Brothers Delmar, Dick (Karen), Ron (Pam) and Joe (Gwynne) Fleming. He is preceded in death by His Parents (Larry and Norma Fleming) and several aunts and Uncles. Delbert was a kind and gentle human being that knew no strangers and was quick with a smile and words of encouragement. He had a long and happy life. He loved his family, his country, doting over his wife Bettylee and watching the squirrels play outside his window. At his request there will be no services. July 30, 1940 - January 19, 2022
