Donna Hartley Obituary

After a lengthy battle with C.O.P.D. and heart failure, a severe stroke in early 2018 proved to be her last. Beloved wife , mother, grand mother, great grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on October 11, 2018 with her loving husband of 54 years at her side. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Avery and Marie Van Zee. Born Donna Van Zee, July 31, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa, she is survived by the love of her life, Michael, of Everett, WA; three daughters, Christine Supplee of Paradise Valley, NV, Kathy Long of Reno, NV, and Cindy Hartley of Gold Bar, WA; four brothers, Jim Callahan of St. James, MN, Dan Van Zee of Soldotna, AK, Mike Van Zee of Des Moines, IA, Leland Van Zee; 10 grandchildren and nine great grand-children. In 1970 they moved to the west coast where they raised their family and Donna enjoyed a career in electronics. Upon retirement they moved to northern Washington, to Sultan and finally Everett. Donna enjoyed hiking and fishing in Big Sur and the Sierras and her many adventures from the beaches to the mountains in the west. But her biggest love was the joy of being a grandmother and great grandmother to her ever expanding family. Known to family and her many friends as a kind and gentle soul that they could always depend on when anyone of them was in need. The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to her numerous caregivers at Providence Hospital following her stroke in February. They also request that in memory of her, donations in her name be given to the Red Cross in Everett that were a God send after the fire in August 2016. No graveside services are planned but a celebration of her great life will be held later.
