Jack Bartlett Obituary

Jack L. Bartlett 1922-2014 The final curtain closed for Jack, always a performer. At 14, he began singing in church accompanied by his mother, Verda. Many musicals, funerals, weddings, and 60 years of barbershopping kept him busy, also known for his joke telling skill. After WWll as a radio operator, he started a family with Gladys in Marysville. They had four children, Janice, Dan, David, and Tom (deceased). He ran a hardware store with his Dad, Rex for 25 years, and later became a real estate broker. It was a different lifestyle after retirement. He married Mitzi and began traveling south for golf, friends, singing, and a new family. 30 years passed to quickly. But as Jack always said... "LEAVE THEM WANTING MORE."

With just a phone call Jack touched my life. I grew up in some pretty rough circumstances at home so I found refuge in the music and drama programs at good old MHS, in the same class as Dave and Dan. It was at a concert Jack heard me sing a solo. He liked it enough to take the time to call a kid he didn't even know and encouraged me to pursue singing, even offering to mentor me in barbershop if I was interested! His call has never been forgotten, and I have spent my whole life singing anywhere they let me. Because of Jack I have tried to pass it on, and encourage young people with talent, who maybe just need someone to tell them "you are good". Thanks Jack, I know you are REALLY singing now!

Dave, Dan, Janice and Mitzi;
One is never quite ready to read or hear of a long time friend leaving this earthly life. A long relationship with the Bartlett family. Hardware,Scouting,Skiing,realestate and construction of the Spe-Bi-Da house gave me so many years to finally appreciate Jack's joy for life.
"It's not so much that time heals all wounds as it is that the passage of the years let us make peace with our grief in our own way"
May God's Peace be with you always.

I was so glad I had the opportunity to visit with Jack and Mitzi at the hospital several months ago when my daughter was getting her gal bladder removed. I had not seen Jack in many many years and he was just as I had remembered smiling and so friendly. It was so wonderful catching up and revisiting old times. He was a wonderful man and will be missed.
