James Hoover Obituary

James Jenks Hoover

Jim Hoover, 90, of Lynnwood, Washington, died November 30, 2009.
Jim was born on September 30, 1919 in Everett, Washington. He was a graduate of Granite Falls High School.
Although he traveled extensively during his 30-year career with the Coast Guard and the U.S. Merchant Marine, his homeport was always in the Pacific Northwest. He was a member of the Sailor's Union of the Pacific, and he continually fought for sailors rights and recognition.
After retirement he continued his support of social reforms by supporting the Congressional Progressive Democratic Party Caucus (CPC). He was happiest when tilling and planting the organic garden occupying the back half of his lot.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Hoover; his mother, Estella Wright; and his brother, Richard Hoover.
He is survived by his wife, Pin; his sister, Mary Shields; two children, Michael and Patricia by an earlier marriage to Helen (O'Connor) Hoover; and many caring nephews and nieces and their families.
At his request, his body was donated to the University of Washington Medical Research Center.
In place of memorials and donations, because of his concern for a healthy planet and food supply, he would want people to plant something, organically, and share it with your family and friends.
The family wishes to thank Medic 911, Providence Hospital Critical Care Unit and hospice staff on Colby in Everett, and the Group Health Clinic, Lynnwood, for their constant and caring support.

Uncle Jimmy will be missed but remembered when we plant a garden, take our vitamins, get involved in politics and the world around us, and eat healthy. Pat you're such a wonderful daughter!

Hello
My name is Teresa Allton. My parents are Roger and Jacky Kellogg. Roger was Jim's cousin. He also went to Granite Falls High School. As you know he passed away in 2007. My mother told me Jim's daughter called to inform her of Jims death and I just wanted to express my sympathy to you and your family.

Dear Pat,Mike and Pin. Uncle Jim was my favorite Uncle, I will miss seeing him and our phone conversations about politics, health and gardening. This has especially hard on mom. We speak of him often. Pat your tribute to him was beautiful, and represented him perfectly. Love, Cousin Cathy

To the family, I think that James Hoover was a guest with his wife at Arnies in Mukilteo quite regularly. I wish the photo was larger. If so, he will be missed, such a sweet man and his wife was such a lovely lady, they really took great care of one another.
God is lucky to receieve such a winderful angel.
