I remember John standing by the dining room table wearing rubber boots and shorts, dark hair. He was about ten, at the house in Marysville. He was born the same year we moved to Eugene, Oregon, so I didn't see him much, and that is my most vivid memory of him. But, even though I did not see him growing up, I still thought of him as close family. And feel his loss. I can't imagine what this anniversary has been like.

I worked with both John and Tracey in Juneau many years ago. John was (and Tracey is) an incredible individual with that special knack and ability to reach and teach children from all walks of life. I was so sorry to hear of John's sudden passing and offer prayers for all of you, both family and friends. I know from personal experience how difficult it is to deal with such an immediate and devastating loss. May your memories bring you sustain you as you begin your lives without John.

I taught across the hall from John for several years at Kasuun. We were the 2nd-grade team. We raised our babies together, helped each other out, and mostly laughed. He was a genuine friend.

I have known John most of my life like many of us. He's always been a fun wonderful and loving person. When he found out my daughter was stationed in Anchorage with the Army a few years back he immediately let me know that his home was open to her if she needed anything. He was just that kind of person. He will be truly missed. I love you John. Thank you for always being there.
