Joseph Pauley Obituary

July 29, 1931-January 29, 2017 Joseph Conrad (Joe) Pauley was born July 29, 1931, to Anna and Joseph Pauley in McKeesport, PA. He grew up in Donora, PA,the oldest of six children. As a child, one of his favorite pastimes was listening to the Pittsburg Pirates with his dad on the radio. He learned the importance of hard work at an early age in his first job delivering papers on his bicycle. When the family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, he attended Lakewood High School. He reached the rank of Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force, and was stationed at the DEWline during the Korean Conflict. While at a USO dance when stationed at Paine Field, he met the love of his life, his wife of 61 years, Yvonne Adele McCaulley. The couple was married on October 13, 1950, at Immaculate Conception Church in Everett. Joe and Yvonne made their home and raised their five children in Mukilteo, WA. He worked for 30 years in heavy equipment sales and service, and was VP of West Coast Operations at NC Machinery Caterpillar. His passion for golf was legendary. He volunteered as a Golf Rules Official for 22 years serving the Washington Junior Golf Association, officiating at high school and college tournaments, as well as in a number of local championships. Joe spearheaded a grassroots effort to establish a local junior golf program that later evolved into the Joe Richer Junior Golf Program. He also served on local Men's Golf Club boards and had a sharp enough game to win the Club Championship. He served as Director of Community Development for the Town of Mukilteo, and was a member of the Civil Service Commission. Joe was a man of faith and family. His life will forever be cherished by his children. He leaves behind David (Martha), John Andrew, Jim (Karen) and Erin, and cherished sister-in-law, Janice Henry: grandchildren, Michelle (Brian), Emily (Nick), Sam (Angela), Natalie, Sophia, Annalise and Malaya, and two great-grandchildren, Bennett and Cameron. He also leaves sisters, Rita and Diane (Richard), and brothers, Gene (Betty), Dennis (Kathy) and Greg (Shirley). Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna, his wife, Yvonne, and his son, Steven. A memorial service will be held at Solie Funeral Home in Everett, WA, Friday, February 10, 2017, at 2 p.m. The family thanks the staff at Garden Court Retirement Home, Hospice, and Dr. Randall Reimer for their care. In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Providence Hospice of Snohomish County or a charity of choice.

Pauley Family, my sincere sympathy to all of you regarding the loss of your Dad and brother. It is not supposed to happen like this. Your Dad was my Dad's golf partner for many years. He was such a gentleman, devoted husband, father and loyal employee. I cherished the time Dad would ask me to caddy, as I truly enjoyed the conversations with your Dad on the golf course. Boy was he ever a quiet competitor. My thoughts are with all of you during a difficult time.
