Kenneth Hubbard Obituary

Kenneth Eugene Hubbard Sr.

Kenneth Eugene Hubbard Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior, August 21, 2005, after a 2-½ year battle with ALS.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Hubbard; his children, Dainette Stufflebeam, Kenneth Jr., James, and David Hubbard, and Jennifer Mitchell; step-children, John and James Nattinger; grandchildren, Amelia, Joel, and Jeremy Espinosa, Brianna and Shaun Stufflebeam, Kathryn and Jason Hubbard, Michael and Anna Hubbard, and Jenna Nattinger; great-grand-child, Serena Tyner; brothers, Robert and Loren Hubbard; sisters, Aletha Peasley, Emily Lehtomaki, Alice Rainwater, and Betty McAnulty.
His father, Claude Hubbard, mother, Amelia Schricker Hubbard, and brothers, Mervin and James Hubbard, preceded him in death.
Kenneth retired from Northwest Airlines, in 1995, where he served as a pilot and flight engineer for 34 years. He served in the military as an aircraft mechanic for the Navy from November 1947 to October 1951.
Ken and Janet enjoyed the outdoors and spent many summers with their good friends, family, grandchildren, and his precious Pomeranian, Maddie, at their Lake Cushman property. He enjoyed building and flying remote control airplanes with his buddies, Byron and Tom. Most of the time they spent rebuilding the aircraft at the crash site. He loved his fishing trips to Canada with his good friends, Hugh and Fred, where they spent many hours repairing Fred's boat. He also enjoyed building an ultralite aircraft with Captain Ken Henderson, co-worker and friend. After the first flight attempt, he wanted no part of it, calling it a death trap with an engine strapped to a lawn chair. Oh, the stories he would share around the campfire at Lake Cushman.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, August 26, 2005, at Calvary Chapel Lynnwood, Washington. Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, (425) 672-1800, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like any donations to go to the Evergreen Chapter of the ALS Association, 6627 South 191st Place, Suite F-106, Kent, WA 98032.

Our Ken was a fly-boy, who served in the military, working on airplanes, then as a airline pilot for Nortwest Airlines, for the duration of his career.

You have got to love it...that is Ken just received his own set of wings, ones with which he may fly further and faster than any 747 he ever piloted!! And they are wings he will have throughout eternity!!

Ken, we love you, and look forward to meeting you once again in the future

I don't really know where to start, except to say that he was the most generous man I've ever had the opportunity to know. As his stepson, he was more like a father to me than my maternal father. Ken is in a blessed place right now. He is in the presence of the Lord, Jesus Christ - a wonderful place where ALS does not exist. It’s place where he will patiently wait for my mother and I, and the rest of his family to one day join him - in heaven to spend all eternity in paradise, praising the Lord, Jesus Christ!
