Marjorie Zehrung Obituary

Marjorie Ann (Carlton) (Hopkins) Zehrung died on June 26, 2025. She was born in Woonsocket, SD on Feb. 4, 1937, to Lois Allen and Lewis Carlton. The family moved to Arlington, WA in 1942, then moved to Everett, WA in 1943. Marjorie attended Perpetual Help Catholic School for grades 1 - 9. She graduated from Everett High School in 1954, Everett General Hospital Nursing Program in 1957, and City University with a BS degree in 1977. Marjorie worked at Everett General Hospital, Northwest Hospital, two local Doctors and retired from Stevens Hospital in 1995 with a total of 38 years of nursing care. She volunteered at the Lake Stevens Community Food Bank for 20 years and was a member of the Arlington Garden Club.

Marjorie married Paul Hopkins in 1958 and had three children. She married Steven Zehrung in 1980 in New Zealand and welcomed two stepchildren. Upon retirement, she helped care for five of her grandkids, three of which were born in 1995. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother William Carlton (Eileen Carlton of Stanwood, WA and sons Chris and Curt). She is survived by her children Kathie (Neesah), Daniel (Dina) and Patrick (Karen) Hopkins and stepchildren Darin (Tina) and Wade (Tonya) Zehrung, grandchildren Nick (Patti) Hamblet, Sam (Ruby) and Nathan Hopkins, Nadina, Maike, Matthew and Jaden Zehrung, and great-grandchildren Abbi and Oliver Hamblet and Esca Zehrung. Marjorie is also survived by husband and best friend Steven Zehrung.

Mass will be held on July 18, 2025, at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lake Stevens, WA. A reception will follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers, please send any memorial to Holy Cross Catholic Church or the Lake Stevens Community Food Bank.

Marj was such a loving woman. My children grew up with the Zehrungs as the neighborhood grandparents. My daughter would often just head over to their house and she was always welcomed with open arms.
It was such a blessing to have such wonderful neighbor and caring friends.
