Michael Scott Obituary

Michael James Scott

Michael James Scott, 65, loving husband and father, passed away on September 30, 2012.
He was born January 14, 1947 in Seattle, WA to James and Patricia Scott. Mike attended Meadowdale High School where he excelled in athletics and became a two time state wrestling champion. Shortly after High School he joined the U.S. Navy, serving in Vietnam as an air traffic controller on the USS Enterprise. He went on to attend Washington State University and, while there, was news director at the local NPR station in Eastern Washington. Upon graduation, he was the recipient of an Edward R. Murrow award.
After college he began his career as a journalist, news director, and nightly news anchor at the Tri-Cities' NBC affiliate, KNDU before moving west in 1979. He then began his 31 year career at the Boeing Company. Mike retired from Boeing in 2010.
Mike loved his family, his church where he was a founding member, and golf which he played and studied voraciously.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Scott; his three children, Brian, Chris, and Alissa Scott; and Janice's children, Matt and Alyssa Pasquini. Mike is also survived by his aunt, Helen Cosgrove; several nieces and nephews; a large extended family; and many friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Jim; and his sister, Sharon.
A memorial service will be held at Cedar Cross United Methodist Church, 1210 132nd Street S.E., Mill Creek, WA 98012, on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Cedar Cross United Methodist Church in memory of Mike.

You could always count on Uncle Mike for a great WSU/Husky joke. I loved the ones I could reverse into great Husky/WSU jokes the next day! Uncle Mike was always smiling, always had that twinkle in his eye, just like his father. I know they are all together now, that brings me peace.

Mike made work at Boeing fun and meaningful. His professionalism and drive to do the right things the right way were well known. When Mike was leading the effort we could trust the results. Mike shared his faith and lived it out each day.

Thank you for sharing Mike with us. I am all the better for knowing him.

I got to know Mike at Cedar Cross UMC, giving me advice and words of wisdom while serving with him on different committees there. I truly am blessed to have worked with him and know him. God Bless you, Mike. We'll all miss you, your humor and your wisdom.

Mike is remembered by myself, as a co-worker at Boeing, and spending many of those years, working together on the same projects, in Manufacturing Engineering. Mike had a great sense of humor, and brought laughter to those of us who otherwise would have had a pretty boring time of it. Thanks Mike, for the memories.
