Rita Louise Deck

1974 - 2018

Rita Louise Deck of Monroe, WA, departed this life on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Providence Hospital in Everett from complications of myotonic muscular dystrophy. Rita was born on May 22, 1974 in Everett, WA, to John and Helen Deck. She was 44 years old and the fourth of six children. Rita graduated from Monroe High School, Class of 1993. She grew up on the family's dairy farm in the Tualco Valley south of Monroe where she lived her entire life. Rita showed Holstein dairy calves and cows in 4-H as a youth. She liked flowers and also showed dahlias in 4-H. Rita was increasingly physically limited by her muscular dystrophy. She looked forward to the holidays and making Christmas cookies with her mother. She loved to pet the family's dogs and enjoyed their company. Rita was a loving daughter, sister, and aunt and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Rita is survived by her father, John Deck, siblings, Teresa Deck, John Deck, Jr., Monica Barber (Mitch), Paul Deck (Meagan), and David Deck; nieces and nephews, Nathan Barber, Audrey Barber, and Bennett Deck. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Maria Deck in 2005. A Funeral Mass celebrating Rita's life will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Valley Catholic Church, 601 W. Columbia St., Monroe.
