Roger Huntley Obituary

January 12, 1957 -

October 6, 2022 Roger Alan Huntley passed away unexpectedly, at home, on October 6, 2022. Roger was born in Everett, WA on January 12, 1957 to Robert and JoAnn Huntley. Roger grew up in Everett and Bellingham before moving to Marysville in 1972. Roger graduated from Pilchuck High School in 1975, where he was a standout football and track athlete. Roger married Kimi Lawe on September 15, 1979 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Marysville. Throughout their 43 year marriage, Roger and Kimi enjoyed many vacations to Kona, HI, camping trips at Baker Lake with their sons, and summers at their lake cabin with family and friends. Roger competed at super heavyweight as a member of the Everett Firefighters Boxing Club and in 1984 fought in the Golden Gloves, winning the WA State tournament and the Western Regional tournament, advancing to the nationals in St. Louis. Roger was a proud beer truck driver for 18 years before working for Snohomish County and the City of Everett as a heavy equipment operator for 22 years. An avid fisherman, Roger and his sons made numerous trips to Nootka Sound, BC to fish for king salmon, along with countless fishing and crabbing excursions in the Puget Sound and San Juan Islands. During his boys' youth, Roger coached football, baseball, and basketball over many seasons and was one of the co-founders of the Marysville Youth Football program. Roger loved fishing, football, Miller Lite, and above all, his family and friends. No funeral service will be held, but a celebration of life will be held Summer, 2023. Roger is survived by the love of his life, wife Kimi Huntley; sons Jordan and Logan Huntley; and in-laws Ted and Jeanie Lawe.

I worked with Roger at the City of Everett, he was always upbeat and had something funny to say. I was shocked to hear of his passing, since I had just read something smart he posted on fb the day before. I'm so sorry to all of his family and friends, he was the life of the party!

Roger was a cheerful, positive spirit. Quick witted, always equipped with a smile and kind word. Simply shocked and saddened to hear of this fine man's passing. Heaven is richer and Roger would want us all to dwell on that while he dwells in Glory. God bless the family and may the Lord assuage their grief.
