Velma McConnachie Obituary

Velma McConnachie

Velma Jeanne (Fasbender) McConnachie, 86, passed away peacefully in Mesa, AZ, on April 11, 2011.
Born in Sheridan, WY, December 7, 1924, she moved to the NW with her family in 1942. Velma survived much - the great depression, being widowed with two small girls and three bouts of cancer treatment. During WWII she worked in the Bremerton shipyards and met her 2nd husband, Clarence (Mac) McConnachie. They settled in Edmonds, WA, in 1958. She was very devoted to raising her children, volunteering in her community, and being a good friend to those around her. In 1985, they retired to Mats Mats Bay near Port Ludlow and in 1994 moved to Mesa. Velma was pre-deceased by Mac, and son, Jim.
She is survived by her children, Carole Weishaar (Ray) of Mesa, Terry Bradwin (Doug) of Anacortes and Gene McConnachie (Catherine) of Shoreline; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held in Edmonds area in August, date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers please consider a gift in her name to her favorite charity, The Desert Cancer Foundation of Arizona, www.desertcanceraz.org, 480-763-6897, which provides free cancer screening to uninsured women, or your local Hospice organization.
