I was in my teens when I first met Verlane in Minot, North Dakota (on his relation's farm). I had the privilege of seeing him again a few times in the past 15 years... he never changed. Always a friend and he remembered those special moments that made me laugh, as if it was yesterday. Our condolences to his family. He was a great man.

He will be missed. The world is already a much smaller place without him. There are no words that can take away the pain of his loss, but all of us can rejoice in a life fully lived and laugh in our memories of a wonderful character we have all been privileged to know.

I didn't know him but, I loved reading what was written about Verlane. It was wonderful. I've never written to someone's family before. I'm sorry for your loss and wanted you know you shared the joy of him. You did him proud.

Always enjoyed talking to Verlane out behind the car wash. Especially Husky football. I only knew Verlane for sixteen years but enjoyed the times we could visit!
