Warren Cronkhite Obituary

"Cronk" Sept. 30, 1925 - Sept. 15, 2016 Cronk passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on September 15, 2016 with his family by his side. He was born on September 30, 1925 in Bellingham, Wash. to Edwin and Esther Cronkhite. They later moved to Everett, Wash. where he met the love of his life, Lillian Anderson. He graduated from Everett High School in 1943. After graduating, Cronk served his country as an aviation cadet, attended Washington State University where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity, and graduated in 1951 from the University of Washington Dental School. Cronk and Lil were married in Everett on September 20, 1946 at Trinity Episcopal Church, where they remained active members. Cronk enjoyed spending the last 48 summers at the family cabin on Guemes Island, Wash. surrounded by his family, friends, crab, clams, cod, and the occasional salmon. Cronk was an avid golfer at the Everett Golf and Country Club up until several months ago. He would not hesitate to tell you about his five hole-in-ones, one more than Lil. Cronk is survived by his wife, Lil; his daughters: Judy (David) Cotant, Janny (Bob) Woodcock, and Susie (Art) Thomson. Cronk was proud of his six grandchildren: Jamie (Leah) Hartley, Eric (Jill) Hartley, Brad Woodcock, Jennifer Woodcock, Carly Thomson, AC Thomson, and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on October 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 2301 Hoyt Avenue, Everett, WA. In lieu of flowers, a remembrance may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, or Guemes Island Fire Fighters Association, 6310 Guemes Island Road, Anacortes, WA 98221.

Dear Lillian, Judy, Janny, and Susie
Cronk was one of our first friends when we came to Guemes Island in 1993. Being a friend of Cronk's was a treasure indeed, he will be greatly missed. We will always remember his engaging smile and love for life and all his family. Blessings to all of you, we are so sorry for your loss.

So many childhood memories of our families spending time together. I will always remember Cronk water skiing on Lake Chelan with a hat on, a cigar in his mouth and one foot in the rope handle. All the dads went to the "ranger station" every day (found out later it was the local bar). He even made trips to the dentist tolerable. Always enjoyed seeing him through the years. He made everyone laugh and have fun! A truly remarkable man.

Cronk will always be a part of my fondest family memories from the early days at
Lk Goodwin to fishing trips and pheasant hunting trips and many other gatherings. I was in his Dental chair when news of JFKs' assassination blared through the radio.
Although I have not seen him or the family for years, his undeniable spirit, playful way and positive persona will remain with me forever. Mark Newland and family

Memories of working with Cronk on the Trinity parking lot came to me just this week. I was discussing the roadblocks (pun) thrown up by the city with a colleague and how Warren & I were pretty sure the lot would be referred to as our memorial lot. He was a wonderful person to work with and talk with. Wishing his family and friends peace during this time.
