My condolences and prayers to your friends and family. Dr. Foley knew me and I knew him. Without him, many of my life's opportunities and aspirations would have folded into dust without his personal support for my goals. Unbeknownst to many when I met him in what was what I hoped to be my last semester at SMU he took a chance with me allowing me to complete a study whilst I worked undercover for the MSP in a local community. He never whispered a word and coached me through the entire process. Truly a blessed soul. He has remained in my thoughts and now in my prayers for being a "stand-up" guy who stood up for me in confidence assuring my undergraduate degree and making so many other things possible as I moved on to Masters and PhD degree.

I have missed Pat Foley's wit, intellect ,smiles, laughter and opinions ( strangely we almost always agreed on political issues) and am saddened to hear of his passing. He often claimed that as two of the few Irishmen left in Fall River, we were entitled to "endangered species" protection. A very good and decent man. My condolences to the family whom I am certain he made proud.
Sincerely, Jay Clarkin

So sorry to hear about Pat's death. He was a good friend and neighbor. Although it has been almost 40 years since I left, when I did have the chance to see him on a return trip, Pat was a constant. My deepest sympathy to the family. Ann McMullen Settlow

Pat supervised my student teaching practicum at BMC Durfee High School while he was at UMass Dartmouth (SMU, back then) and it was a delight to become his friend and be in his company at any time. Pat's scholarship, thoughtfulness and wonderful wit made a very warm and permanent impression, and I though I saw him infrequently over the years, I smile now as I remember him, will truly miss him, and wish the best to his family.

Pat was my adviser as a first year student in 1970 at the former SMU, now UMass-Dartmouth. As a Vietnam Vet who had been out of formalized education for some time, Pat was so very helpful in his support. I helped with his first campaign for school committee in the early '70s and he was an ardent advocate for educational reforms for generations of children in Fall River. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

So sorry to read of Pat's passing. Fond memories of our next door neighbors Pat and Mary and the kids. Last saw Pat when we ran into one another in a restaurant here in Sarasota 17 or so years ago.

Our condolences to Mike,Kate and the entire Foley family. His presence here in southeastern Massachusetts was overwhelming. He gave many students an opportunity to enlighten and educate many many children. The Kitchen family is grateful for Patrick being my daughter Sonya's godfather. I had many philosophical bouts with him and like a gentleman he stayed true to his ideologies. God Bless the Foley Family .He will be missed.
