David Archie Obituary

David Lee Archie, Sr. FORT MILL - David Lee Archie, Sr., 77, of Fort Mill, SC went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 10, 2015. He fought a long hard battle of cancer without ever grumbling or complaining. During the last year he was happy to go outside and drive his golf cart around his yard with his family, friends and the Hospice nurses. David loved his home and family. There is no place on earth he would rather be than at home. He loved to garden and watch the bounty grow. He was an avid hunter and always tried to outsmart the deer, rabbits and turkeys. In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball and volleyball. David was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lottie Neal Archie, his father-in-law Terry Childers, brothers Marshall "Rip" Archie and Johnny Archie, sisters Lillie Mae Fite, Rosie Bell Faulkenberry, Pearly Ward, Flossie Walker, Connie Yarbrough, Jessie Funderburke and Janie Lee Archie. His is survived by his wife Terri Archie of the home, mother-in-law Doris Childers of Fort Mill, daughter Cheryl (Tony) Nicholson of Fort Mill and sons David (Sharon) Archie, Scott (Sandy) Archie both of Fort Mill and Danny (Patty) Worley of York. David was blessed with twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at 3:00 pm, Monday, October 12, 2015, at the Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 pm at the church. The family will receive friends at other times at the home located at 10483 Stream Lane, Fort Mill, SC. The family would like to express our many thanks to the nurses and other staff members at Interim Hospice in Rock Hill, SC for taking such great care of David during the last year. You made his days more pleasant and will always hold a special place in our hearts. Also, a special thanks to his sister-in-law, Beverly Holcombe, who helped care for him this past year. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene, 109 Harris Street, Fort Mill, SC 29715 or Interim Hospice, 154 Amendment Avenue, Suite 105, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Uncle David was a wonderful person. He was a loving family man to his wife and children. He always had a smile and a story to tell. I will never forget the kindness he showed to my parents and our family. I know he is with our Lord and with my mom and dad now! I know you all will miss him terribly but know that with God you will see him again!
