ROCK HILL - Dolores G. Battle, of 1525 Merrie Meadows Court, passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Hospice & Community Care, Rock Hill, S.C.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. this past Saturday, June 30, 2012, at the First Born Church of the Apostolic Faith in Rock Hill, with Bishop Apostle Phillip F. Cargile delivering the eulogy.

A native of Elizabeth, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Charles F. and the Rev. Mother Derris Cargile. At a very young age, she was baptized in Jesus’ name under her pastor, the Rev. Mot. She moved to Lancaster County, S.C., then to Rock Hill, S.C. Dolores was a member of the Volunteer Faith Center in Fort Mill, S.C., and the First Born Church of the Apostolic Faith in Rock Hill, where she was a spiritual helper to the late Mother D. Cargile and her present pastor, the Rev. P. F. Cargile. She was trustee, V.F.C. secretary, pianist, teacher, choir director (president) and church cook. An ordained minister for 42 years, she received the Most Congenial Award from the Missionary Department.

She leaves not to mourn four grandchildren, Tiffany R. Williams, Timothy R. Williams, Joshua C. Singleton and Justin Singleton; one great-granddaughter, Madyson M. Williams; three brothers, Mr. Herbert Cargile (Rosa) and the Rev. Phillip F. Cargile (Ruth), both from Fort Mill and Dennis O. Cargile, who preceded her in death, and adopted brother, the Rev. Mom I cannot begin to tell you the impact you have made on my life. You were my mother, best friend, mentor and confidant. There will never be another like you and no one can take your place. You are an amazing women. Throughout your life when there were hardships and times were rough and when things were good you remained steadfast in faith and continue to be a light to so many. You took care of your children like mother should and because of that, we are able to stand on our own two feet and be the women you would be proud of. Thank you for all you have done for the grands and now great grand. We will NEVER FORGET your loving touch. I love you mommy!

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Psalm 30:5

Surely, Minister Battle will perpetually be missed. Her acuteness of wit, and her sagacity for understanding others helped me in times of testing. Seeds of her love for biblical history have been transplanted into many of us. Vern and Dar, we are praying for you in your mom's bodily absence. Just remember, what she has taught you is to continue on through you and your children. I miss her already and I loved her for always caring and exemplifying Christ in her life. She kept it real, this I can say. The following verse is critical at this time, and always.
Sisters, keep the faith!

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22
