ROCK HILL - The Rev. George Henry Schultz Sr., 86, died on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, S.C. He was born April 5, 1925, in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late George and Leslie Magruder Schultz.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 2, at Trinity Bible Church in Rock Hill. The Rev. Matthew James will officiate, assisted by Dr. George Murray, Dr. Paul Downey, the Rev. Fleet Kirkpatrick and the Rev. Bill Harding III. Interment with full military honors will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Rock Hill.
During high school he gave his heart and soul to the Lord Jesus. Upon graduation from Upper Darby Senior High School in Pennsylvania, George enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and served as a navigator and radar bombardier on a B29 in the Pacific Theater of Operation in the Second World War. He had the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the 16th Bomb Squadron, 16th Bomb Group, 315th Bomb Wing. During his military service, he felt God's call into full-time Christian ministry.
Upon returning home, he married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Veronica Weng. He attended Wheaton College and graduated magna cum laude in 1950. He then attended Faith Theological Seminary in Elkins Park, Pa., and graduated in 1953 with a Master of Divinity degree. He was ordained into the gospel ministry at Aldan Union Church in Aldan, Pa., in 1953.
He served as pastor of the Community Church in Fontana Village, N.C., for two years and of Trinity Bible Church in Rock Hill for over 43 years. He served on the board of Charlotte Christian High School. Because of his vision and passion for Christian education, he founded Trinity Christian School in 1968 and served as its superintendent until 1999. He was a founding member of the Palmetto Pregnancy Center in 1983 and served on its board for 27 years.
He was the author of several books and pamphlets and was a talented musician. He was known for his unique piano rendition of “Onward Christian Soldiers.”
The Rev. Schultz and his wife, Dorothy, are both survived by their three children, Holly Schultz Green and her husband, Ronny, William (Bill) Dean and his wife, Lois, and George Henry Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Rutherfordton, N.C. They were blessed with eight grandchildren, Jacqueline Kuhn Sherer, Jennifer Kuhn Smith, Melissa Schultz Thurman, Christina Schultz Areheart, Aimee Schultz, Kate Schultz Colon (deceased), Nathan Schultz and Beth Schultz Sprouse; and nine great-grandchildren. George and Dorothy served the Lord together for 42 years until Dorothy went to be with her Lord. The Rev. Schultz is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Schultz Perry, and two nieces, Donna Perry Schneider and Robin Perry-Rosser.
In 1992 God blessed George with a new companion and help-mate. He and Laura McNeely were married in April 1992. Together they also loved and encouraged her children, John McNeely and Steve McNeely and wife, Martha, of Kingsport, Tenn., and Laura's three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pastor Schultz was known as a kind, compassionate, humorous and gentle man who had the gifts of evangelism and teaching, which he lovingly gave to literally thousands of people. His vision and passion for ministry and missions were his life's focus and under his ministry, many were called into Christian service as ministers and missionaries. He loved Jesus with all his heart and actively worked to see His Name declared among all peoples of the earth.
Pastor Schultz was a great Christian leader but another great contribution was to his family, serving faithfully as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His public and family life was a direct reflection of his private walk with God. His lifelong reflection of his Savior will serve as a legacy for all who knew him and for generations to come.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 1, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road in Rock Hill.
Memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Bible Church Mission Fund, 914 Cherry Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29732 or the Palmetto Pregnancy Center, 828 Lucas St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

What a great honor it was to sit under the teaching of the Lord by a great follower of Jesus Christ, as George Schultz. It was such a pleasure to be hear him bring the word of God for 6 years and then work along side him as a school board member for 3 years.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Laura and his family. We can all rejoice that we will again fellowship with Pastor Schultz in Heaven.

I can personally say that one of the most beautiful, kind, genuine people I have ever been blessed to be friends with is his daughter Holly. He raised a gem!!! Praying for peace for the family.

There are several people in my life that have had a profound impact, Pastor Schultz was by far, one of them. In my greatest moment of coming to know the Lord as my Savior, he was there. In my most darkest moment of a personal failure, he was there. In one of the darkest seasons of my life, he was there. Never judging, never condemning- speaking truth in love and compassion. He was also there at several of my happiest moments. As a child and young person, I never knew what an impact he had on my life but as an adult, he had the greatest. My life will be forever changed due to his unwavering love and committment. It was truly an honor to know him, to love him, to be loved by him and to be taught by him. I am and will be forever be blessed. Thank you to the family that so willingly shared him with us all.I am sure it was a sacrafice on your part so many times. Please know that it has enternal impact for so many and you were a part of it as well. My prayers are with you all.

I was saddened to hear of Pastor Schultz's passing. As a young child, I remember attending his church, Trinity Bible Church, and hearing him preach every Sunday. He had such an impact on the people he met, and will always be fondly remembered as a gentle soul. I know he had an impact on my life, for I am who I am today because of his belief in God. He instilled God's word in me then.
May God bless his family during this time.

There are not enough words to express our sympathy for your grief over Pastor Schultz's passing. He will be greatly missed.
Personally, I cannot begin to tell you the tremendous impact he had on my life. His encouragement to memorize scripture and to study God's word had played a major part in who I am today. The many talks we had about life, death --the journey-- will never be forgotten. His life will live on in the things he taught me and the things I teach others. His life truly has gone "into all the world" and will continue to do so forever.
Linda and I love you all.

I first heard the gospel message at Trinity. Glenn Schunk was a guest speaker. He preached a sermon called the Halls of Hell and also gave his own personal testimony. The Lord spoke to my heart that night and a short time later I came to the realization that Jesus Christ is the Messiah of the Jews and gentiles. Pastor Schlutz was and will always be a beautiful example of a "slave" of Jesus Christ. I sat under Pastor Schlutz's ministry for a while and then entered the pastorate myself, where I have been serving for the last 32 years. Thank you for your walk Pastor. You will be missed, until that day we all join you. See "ya"later Sir.

The world has lost a great, great man, but Heaven is rejoicing over the arrival of George Schultz. I learned about the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ through the teachings of Pastor Schultz. His unyielding devotion to his church, missions, and the Palmetto Pregnancy Center will always be a lasting memory for me. My deepest sympathy to Laura and his family.

What a true man of God. He lived what he preached and truly walked the walk. I met him as a young girl going to Bible School @ Trinity when I was in my early teens. I learned so much from the Bible from him and his teachings. He truly loved everyone and had a great passion for his church and church family. He was never to busy to stop and talk to you and always offered comforting and kind words as well as encouragement. My life has been blessed by his teachings and for knowing such an awesome man of God. I remember many times telling my parents how much I thought he was like Billy Graham as he loved the Lord so much and he lived what he taught and preached. My heart goes out to his children and grandchildren. My prayers are with you during this difficult time.
