Human words are always inadequate in the face of unspeakable loss. There are no human words that can soothe the heart of a grieving family. Our hearts goes out to the Wright family as we join you in your grief.
We all were blessed to have had Ike for such a short time. Losing someone who is so much a part of your life is difficult. Please lean on the Lord and allow Him to bring the comfort you need during this time of loss.
Ike was a special person and I'm sure brought a lot of joy and happiness to your life as well as others. Think about those special times and rely on those memories to keep the love for him alive in your life. As the days go by, the love for him will continue to be part of who you are and you can face each day, not in your own strength, but in the strength of the Lord. Remember the good and wonderful traits of Ikey and allow those to become part of your life.

To The Wright Family:
I convey to you my deepest sympathy.
My heart is saddened to learn of the death of Ike. He was a great friend to me and embraced and supported me, just after I graduated from college in 1970 and took my first job in York with DSS. Sometimes, being the eternal optimist that I am, I was saddened and overwhelmed by job situations; some from which I had been sheltered by my upbringing. Ike would cheer me up with funny stories, humor, and kindness. Mr. Fine and Mrs. Wright and other family members were always kind and gracious to me as well when I saw them.
Sadly, Ike and I lost contact, but I often thought of him with good wishes and kept him in my heart and prayers.
He will forever remain with us,where in each of our hearts, as is in mine, there will be a tender spot of joy and loving memories of knowing Ike.
He was a gift to us all. He continued a trans-generational family legacy of helping families during their time of bereavement, but also created a legacy of his own that was imbued with a loving spirit, dignity, graciousness,and generous deeds.
May God surround you (all of Ike's family) with comfort and peace and the knowledge that Ike is healed and with the Lord and united again with his family in heaven.
Joy comes in the morning!

The Jamison, Floyd and Tate Families wish to extend our most sincere condolences to Joelean, Bridget and the entire Wright family on the loss of Mr. Wright. Our family had the distinct honor of being the first family that Ikey Wright serviced after he became the director of Wright Funeral Home back in the 1970's. My family has entrusted his services for well over 40 years and consider him to be a close friend of our family. I have had the opportunity to plan several funeral services with him and his daughter Bridget for my loved ones over the past few years. Through those experiences, I found him to be genuine in stature and a man of great integrity. He communicated in a manner that projected calmness during times when my family was experiencing very difficult times. He always did what he said he would do but he often went further by providing more that you asked for or expected; an excellent level of service that you don't often see today. I believe this is why so many people grieve with your family. People like Ikey Wright don't come along very often but when they do, they should be appreciated. And when they leave us they deserve to be celebrated.

It's still hard to imagine York without Ikey! We can attest to the compassion he often displayed to the families of York that so many have spoken about.
