James Hall Obituary

James Rodney "Rod" Hall
August 3, 2023
Lake Wylie, South Carolina - Mr. James Rodney "Rod" Hall, 86, of Lake Wylie, SC, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 3, 2023 at his home by the lake surrounded by his family. Rod was a man of faith and a follower of Christ and his family and many friends find great comfort in the assurance that he entered into eternal rest and is now in the presence of his Creator and Savior.
The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the Community Church at Lake Wylie, 104 Hamilton's Ferry Road, Lake Wylie, SC with the Rev. Bob Jack officiating. Interment will be in Ebenezer A.R.P. Church Cemetery, 2132 Ebenezer Rd., Rock Hill, SC with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 11th at the Community Church at Lake Wylie.
Mr. Hall was born December 5, 1936 in Rock Hill, SC to the late James Luther and Lydia Loyce Holland Hall. He attended Winthrop Training School and was a graduate of Georgia Tech earning a degree in electrical engineering. Rod was a Captain in the U.S. Army, where he served from 1961 to 1964. His first career was with Duke Power where he designed and integrated electrical control systems. In mid '70's, Rod took an early retirement from Duke Power and pursued his passion for boats and the boating lifestyle. He was the founder and owner of the Hall Marine Group, first established as Lake Wylie Marina, Lake Wylie, SC which grew to be one of the largest, most respected, marine industry organizations in the country including six locations and two marinas. Upon Rod's retirement in 2004, Fran and Rod enjoyed many years of travel, woodworking, bicycling and other interest.
Rod was loved and respected by all who knew him; he touched and inspired many lives and was always a positive example in his behavior and how he treated everyone. He was a good and faithful servant, loving husband, good father, and a good friend to many; a man of honesty and integrity.
Survivors are his loved and devoted wife of 64 years, Margaret Frances "Fran" Smith Hall; sons James Richard Hall and his wife Cindy Lee Hall and Jeffrey Lee Hall and his wife Laura F. Hall both of Charleston, SC; sister Joyce Hall of New York, NY; grandchildren Maddison, Brandon, Carson, and Lauren Hall; grand daughter-in-law Abby Hall; and great grandchildren Rodney and Oliva Hall.
Memorials may be made to the Community Church at Lake Wylie, 104 Hamilton's Ferry Road, Lake Wylie, SC 29710. Online condolences may be made at www.mlfordsons.com

So many of us in the Winthrop Training School class of 1955 have such fond and dear memories of Rodney, but we all scattered after graduation and went in different ways. I'm sad that he and I didn't stay in touch with each other. I am sure he is a grand addition to the chorus of Angels in Heaven. Fellow Classmate, Harriet "Sister" Marshall Goode

I am so sorry to see Rods' passing -

He had a funny, dry sense of humor and was a decent and good man -
