James Pulliam Obituary

James (Jim) D. Pulliam, 73, passed away on October 21,2017. He was the owner of Carolina Industrial Chemical, Rock Hill, SC, but will be remembered more as a Christian and Churchman. Over a span of 50+ years he served as trustee for Trevecca Nazarene University (Tennessee), trustee for the Native American Christian Academy (Arizona), treasurer for the NC District Nazarene Church, finance chairman and board member for Pineville Nazarene Church, youth director, Sunday School teacher, and teen camp director. Jim did many things for the church that did not carry a "title". He was avid about the maintenance of the church property from replacing toilets and light bulbs to picking up litter on the grounds. He also took care of the church vehicles and drove them on church trips. He was a "people person" with a sense of humor and a big heart. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Martha (Steed), one daughter, Carla (Alan) Gibson-Detering, two grandchildren, Ariella Gibson of Kentucky and Adam Gibson of Rock Hill, two sisters, Susan Pulliam of Greensboro, NC, and Becky (Mike) Smith of Atlanta, and one brother, Mark (Carolyn) Pulliam of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by countless "kids" that view him as an adopted father. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: Trevecca Nazarene University/ Pulliam Plaza, 333 Murfreesboro Road, Nashville, TN, 37210 or Pineville Church of the Nazarene/ Building Fund, 8614 Pineville Matthews Road, Charlotte, NC, 28226. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be registered at www.basscares.com.

Jim's was an extraordinary life among men, yet not uncommon of a life in Christ. He was always and ever my friend with a heart ready to listen. Earth is poorer; heaven richer.
