Mark H. Hall III
June 28, 1948 - August 22, 2022
Rock Hill, South Carolina - Mark Henry Hall, III, 74, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022 after a ten-year fight against Multiple Sclerosis and its complications.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, September 17 at First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
Mark was born in Atlanta, GA on June 28, 1948 to the late Mark Henry Hall, Jr. and Jacquelyn Morrow Hall. In addition to his parents, Mark was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Jennings Neely, Jr. and George Siebel. He grew up in Columbia, SC where he explored the outdoors with neighborhood friends, delivered the afternoon newspaper on his bike, became an Eagle Scout, and graduated from A.C. Flora High School. He earned a degree in journalism and business at the University of Georgia where he formed steadfast friendships with his fraternity brothers that spanned decades. He also began his lifelong love of Georgia football. After graduation Mark spent most of his adult life in Atlanta and became an avid Atlanta Braves fan as well. Mark made friends easily and enjoyed meeting new people. His career was in sales and his sincere interest in listening to the stories of others was a strength. He especially enjoyed running with the Chattahoochie Road Runners in Atlanta as well as finishing more than twenty Peachtree Road Races, including one with his nephew, Mark. He enjoyed golfing and trips to the Masters with his dad. Always thinking of others, he also volunteered in many capacities as long as physically possible. Throughout his life, Mark had a strong Christian faith and remained positive and thankful no matter how disappointing or painful the situation. He loved children and would have been a wonderful father, but that was never to be. First known as "Big Mark" and then as "Big Uncle Mark," he was adored by his nieces and nephews and their children. He was present at every possible special occasion in their lives including driving the getaway car at his niece's wedding.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sisters, Linda Hall Neely of Rock Hill, SC and Vickie Hall Siebel of Mesa Farm, New Mexico; his nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Neely Turner, Mark Neely, Jim Turner, Buffy, Heather, and Nathan Siebel; his great-nieces and nephews, Neely, Jay, Caroline, and Mary Catherine Turner, Dalton Neely, Olive and Holden Weinberg.
