Mitch Rowe Obituary

Mr. Mitchell Rowe, 85, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017 at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mike Honeycutt officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Born in Wheeler County, TX, Mr. Rowe was the son of the late Percy Rowe and the late Ella Mae Mitchell Rowe. He was a US Army paratrooper serving during the Korean War. He was retired from Bowater serving as a Production Manager from 1959-1992 and as a Consultant at Phil Chemical from 1992-1993. He was preceded in death by his son, Wes Rowe and his brother Donald Rowe.

Mitch loved all sports and was a beloved little league coach in Rock Hill for many years. He was an avid golfer and would play every day if he could. He was active in both the Bible Ministry and the Wheel Chair Ministry at Westminster and passionate about both the ministries and all the men involved. He enjoyed the Christian fellowship of his retirement years and the many friends he made along the way. He especially loved his church and his very special Sunday School Class.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Virginia "Toby" Britt Rowe; his daughters, Melanie Rowe and Sheree Epps (Tommy); his grandchildren, Mark, Tyler and Sam Epps, Mitchell Rowe, Taylor Rowe and Chelsea Jones; his great-grandchildren, Heath, Thomas, Parks and John; his sister, Dreka Roark; and his daughter-in-law, Charlene Rowe. He is also survived by his beloved dog Radar and his grand dog Beauregard. He never met a dog or a child that he did not like and was known to carry dog biscuits in his pockets for any dog he might encounter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Rowe's name to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Missions Fund, 1300 India Hook Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732 or to Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731.

Melanie, you may not remember me. We went to school together. My heart breaks for you and the family. Dads are special people. The Scriptures teach us to "mourn with those that mourn". You are not alone. Keep a good thought. My prayers will include you and the family.
