Alan Marine Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greene Funeral Home - Downtown Chapel on Mar. 29, 2026.
Mr. Alan Irving Marine, 87, died peacefully at home Friday March 27, 2026 after an eight-year battle with Alzheimer's. He faced his diagnosis with courage and faith.

Visitation followed by a brief Memorial Service will be held Tuesday March 31st, 2026 at 7:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall at Charlotte Avenue Church of Christ, 339 Charlotte Avenue Rock Hill, SC 29730.

A native of Springfield VT, he was born April 13th 1938 to the late Elroy Joseph Marine and late Gladys Ross Marine. Alan grew up and attended school in Schenectady, NY. He enlisted in the Air Force, but was in a car accident the night before reporting to duty which ended that path in his life. Alan moved back to Springfield, Vermont where he met his wife Georgia May Richardson. They bought his Grandparents home and raised their family there.

Alan was employed for 25 years by Jones & Lamson, a division of Textron where he was a Technical Writer. In 1981 the family moved to South Carolina when the company opened a small plant in York, SC. Later his career included, mobile home and car sales. Alan ended his working years with the City of Rock Hill.

In his school days Alan was a talented track and field athlete. He loved Johnny Mathis and Elvis Pressley music and could often be heard breaking into impromptu singing. Alan had a love of the outdoors and was an avid Hunter and fisherman during his time in Vermont. He raced go- carts early on in his life and remained a motor vehicle enthusiast throughout owning numerous motorcycles, snowmobiles and cars. After retirement Alan bought a 1931 Ford Model A. He was a member of the Rock Hill Cruisers – Classic Car Club and was usually found at a car show on any given weekend for many years. Alan was also a member of the Rock Hill OWLS Club where he enjoyed attending Winthrop basketball games and trivia nights out.

Mr. Marine is predeceased by his wife of 49 years George May Richardson Marine.

He is survived by his sisters Sheryl Onstott of Georgia and Gail Tucker of Oklahoma, his 3 children Kurt Marine, Jeffrey Marine, Kimberly Loiselle and Steven Loisellle, 3 Granddaughter's Jaclyn Lifsey, Lauren Marine, Ouida-Jayne Marine, and 4 Great Grandchildren, Broderick Townsend, Bradley Marine, Ethan Lifsey and Emery Bigham all of Rock Hill.
