Willie Williams Obituary
He was born Sept. 7, 1939. He joined Pineville AME Zion Church at an early age and attended York County public schools. He worked in many trades as a plumber and a brick mason. His passion for music included singing and playing the guitar for the Heavenly Gates Quartet Group.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellison Williams and Julia Moore Williams.
Willie Abraham (Pig) Williams is survived by his wife, Betty Strong Williams. From the union with the late Dorothy Hemphill Williams, he is survived by four children, James Kenny (Gay) Williams and Everette (Yolonda) Williams, both of Rock Hill and Dorothy Marie Williams and Tray Williams, both of Charlotte, N.C.; his son, Sgt. Travis Canty (U.S. Army) of Baltimore, Md.; four stepchildren, Bobby (Aburita) Strong , Tracey (Mike) Miller and Lee Strong, all of Rock Hill and Donald (Ann) Strong of York; two sisters, Florence W. Pearl and Julia W. Chisolm, both of Rock Hill; three sisters-in-law, Annie Kate Williams of Atlanta, Ga., Revella Williams of New Jersey and Ruby (Sam) Moore of Rock Hill; two brothers-in-law, Willie James Hemphill of Rock Hill and Larry (Gladys) Hemphill of Fayetteville, N.C.; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 11, 2008, at Parker Funeral Home. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at Pineville AME Zion Church, with Dr. Alton Pegues officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.
Parker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
