Carol Eleanor Nelson Skahn, 95, of Sawyer passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, in Bridgman. Carol was born Jan. 17, 1930, in Chicago. Carol attended North Park College and then the University of Illinois, where she graduated in 1952 with degrees in mathematics and music. A talented pianist, Carol gave piano lessons from her home and taught music.
In 1991, Carol moved to Sawyer and renovated the family cottage into a year-round home. Carol was an active member of Harbert Community Church. Carol was a beautiful example of a godly woman, deeply admired by her family.
She is survived by her sons: Steve, Cary (Mary Ann) and Eric (Maria); grandchildren: David (Caroline) Skahn, Hanna (Tim) Hill, Erik Skahn, Caroline (Jason) Alman; and six great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service was held Friday, July 25, in West Side Cemetery, Lakeside.
