Craig M. Steffanides, 75, of Berrien Springs died unexpectedly Aug. 20, 2021, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
He was born April 8, 1946, in Milwaukee, the son of Chester and Ann Steffanides.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and loyal member of the United Pipe Fitters of America Local 111 of the Upper Peninsula. Craig attended military school at St. John's Military Academy, a very exclusive school. He served in Vietnam, and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the Kittyhawk.
He was an avid musician and loved fishing. He was well respected as a musician and even taught some very famous people a few lessons in guitar.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Craig was survived by his love of 23 years, Patricia A. Hansen of Berrien Springs; his son, Stephan Steffanides of California; his daughters, Pamela (Brian) Lunch of Olympia, Wash., and Cynthia Stark (Kerry Nickerson) of Ocklawaha, Fla.; granddaughters, Dana (Byron) Codman of Walhalla, Mich.; Kelly (Jason) Starnes of Buchanan; Brittany (Olver) Cureno of Katy, Texas; great-grandchildren, Caitlynn Murdock (Jerry McDonald) of St. Joseph, Deanna Codman of Walhalla, Kaylee and Isabella Cureno of Katy, Texas and Jarrick and Jackson Starnes of Buchanan; great-great-grandchildren, Ethan Merrill, Serenity McDonald and Tucker McDonald; and his sister, Jackie Thompson of California.
A military graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3. Craig will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery in Berrien Center.
