Dr. C. Fletcher Womble, Jr.

August 8, 1929 - April 18, 2024

Cary, North Carolina - Dr. C. Fletcher Womble, Jr., 94, of Cary, NC, passed away on April 18, 2024.

Fletcher was born on August 8, 1929, in High Point, NC, to the late Rev. Cornelius F. Womble, Sr. and Hettie Carroll Womble.

The son of a Methodist Minister, he grew up in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, graduating from High Point College and UNC-CH. He and his wife Erma raised their 3 children in Fayetteville, NC, where Fletcher served for 35 years in public education as a teacher, principal, and Superintendent.

He was a member of Hay Street United Methodist Church in Fayetteville and First Cary United Methodist Church. Loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, he will be greatly missed.

Fletcher is survived by his wife and best friend of 70 years, Erma; children, Betty Michal of Rocky Mount, NC, Sue Milwee of Burlingame, California, and James Womble, of Raleigh, NC, and their spouses; and 24 loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Glenaire Retirement Community Auditorium in Cary, NC on June 7, 2024 at 2 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief).
