Durham, North Carolina - Born in Wantagh on Long Island, NY. Youngest of six siblings. Aged 93. May was a retired schoolteacher and an active Girl Scout for many years. She and husband James retired in Durham. In Durham she remained active at the Meals on Wheels and St. Luke's Episcopal church. She was an avid gardener and loving birds created a bird sanctuary. Mother of four Nancy, Fred, Barbara and Larry. Seven grandchildren. Two great grandchildren with two more on the way. A lifelong Episcopalian. She enjoyed a hotdog for lunch on Saturdays. She believed eating blueberries contributed to her long life. She found squirrels to be pesky little devils. May enjoyed laughing until she cried. There will be a graveside memorial at St. Luke's in Durham. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to either Meals on Wheels or St. Luke's Episcopal church.

May was one of a kind and someone that truly touched my life. I was her nail tech for the past 8 years and I thought the world of her! She will truly be missed and I will miss my monthly visits with her. Praying for the entire Bailey family.
